I'm back in time before we hear the first potential songs for Eurovision. This week, we talk about self sabotage. In 2003, only 2 points separated the winner and runner-up. Turkey received 12 points from Belgium who were awarded 7 points in return. This decided the winner. As Terry Wogan would say, "shot themselves in the foot". Another occurence was in 1979. Before the final votes, Spain lead over Israel with one point. Unluckily for Spain, they were the last country to vote. They gave Israel 10 points, which ultimately costed them the win. And there's the famous 1 point-gap in 1988. United Kingdom gave 10 points to Switzerland, who awarded them 5 points. So it's actually on UK themselves. Had they given Switzerland just 2 points less, the win would've been theirs.
